Dr. Thomas J. Dirnberger, DO
Dr. Thomas Dirnberger was born and raised in Coaldale, PA, graduating
from the former Coaldale High School in 1960. He was honorably
discharged after serving three years in the U.S. Army and attended classes
sponsored by the University of Maryland while stationed in Europe.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and a degree in Pharmacy
from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD in 1968.
After working as a staff pharmacist in a hospital in the Washington, DC
area he was accepted into the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
in 1969 and graduated from medical school in 1973. Dr. Dirnberger
served his internship at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital and opened his
practice in Tamaqua in 1974. He passed his board certification in
Family Practice in 1978 and has been recertified in 1984, 1990 and 1997 as
required by the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has served
as Vice-President for the American Cancer Society and as a board member of
the former Miners Memorial Medical Center as well as Vice-President of the
medical staff.
Dr. Dirnberger and his wife, Elinor reside in Tamaqua. His
hobbies and interests include fly-fishing, hunting, skiing and gardening.
